Temples - Anchor Thom, Bayon and Preah Khan - Cambodia

As much as we pride ourselves on our ability to capture a degree of the esthetic in our photographs, none of the following are able to provide a true reflection (other than the second photograph below).

The entrance to Angkor Thom

Beyond the entrance is a long road leading to the central square of Angkor Thom. This photo unfortunately does not capture the intricacy but Kathryn provides a sense of the magnitude.

Leaving Angkor Thom, and on toward Bayon. Beautiful, the leaves remind us of fall.

Bayon, capturing a portion of the long granite walkway, unbelievable.

Attempting to capture some of the detail

A tree growing through a portion of the foundation

A complex root structure. For those frizbee golfers out there, on natural holes, contiguous root counts.

From Bayon, onto Preah Khan - courtyard

Root growing over the structure

Photograph from inside, looking out.

A beautiful pillar lined walkway

Non restored area of Preah Khan
There are likely more photographs from the day to be added, as Kathryn's are not included.
We are off to see a few other temples tomorrow, further afield - to Banteay Srei, Preah Neak Pean, and Kbal Spean. We are saving a sunrise at Angkor Wat for another day.
