Books

We're making our way through some books and thought we'd keep track of them here. Some reads are quite good and some are utter trash, but what's vacation for if not for the occasional trashy novel!

Japan, 11th Edition, Lonely Planet (of course). Bulky but very useful, haven't gone anywhere without it.

The Ancestor's Tale, Richard Dawkins.

Fascinating and insightful, so far. Dawkins leads us back through our own history, 4 billion years worth, with a look at our ancestry, and the final destination is that of the origin of life.

Diary of a Very Bad Year Confessions of an Anonymous Hedge Fund Manager, N + 1 Magazine.

An anonymous hedge fund manager based in New York provides his own insight on Wall Street's financial crisis and on modern finance.

Snow Flower and The Secret Fan, Lisa See.

The story of a young girl growing up in 19th century China, who endures footbinding among other tragedies common to that period.

The Japanese Lover, Rani Manicka.

A young girl from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) is married off to a very wealthy Malayan businessman ....this is a beach read.

Norwegian Wood, Haruki Murakami.

A man thinks back to his days as a student in Tokyo in the late 60s. A sad and complicated love story.

The Finkler Question, Howard Jacobsen.

Three friends who, in some shape or form, have lost their spouses interact with each other and use each other for support.
