A night out

We went to the Ho Chi Minh City Orchestra/Symphony and we absolutely loved it. We "dressed up" as much as we could...though we were both wearing flip flops...and sat down at 8:00 for the show.

The building itself is quite lovely. The performance had a choir with a soprano (Cho Hae Ryong) for the first half, then after intermission the symphony, with Dao Nhat Quang playing the clarinet. It was brilliant! We've since been poking around to see if the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra has any tickets available for February when we're back!

Ho Chi Minh City

Here's a couple of poor quality videos we shot with a point & shoot camera just outside our hotel a few days ago. The locals went mad when they won a big football (soccer) cup. Things were nuts for a few hours with people racing around on their scooters with horns blaring, flags flying, music pumping, and people yelling at the top of their lungs. Fun to watch...till the cops came to disperse the crowds.
